Townshend acts/duties (15 juin 1767 – 2 juill. 1767)
Description:
The Townshend Acts were a series of measures that placed taxes on goods imported to the American Colonies. The American colonists saw this as an abuse of power. The act placed taxes on British china, glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. This is because these goods would be difficult for the colonists to produce on their own. The colonists boycotted the goods, and thus the act was repealed.
