Description:
The Desert Archaic (or Desert Culture) refers to a long-lasting and widespread prehistoric cultural pattern of Indigenous peoples who adapted their way of life to the arid and semi-arid environments of western North America, primarily the Great Basin, the American Southwest, and northern Mexico. This tradition emerged around 8000 BCE and persisted in some areas until the adoption of agriculture closer to 1000 BCE or later.
