Description:

2020 March 13: Breonna Taylor was shot and killed by LMPD officers while executing a search warrant at her home.

2023 March 8: The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that it found a “pattern or practice” of constitutional rights violations by Louisville Metro Government and LMPD.

2024 December 12: Louisville Metro Government and LMPD entered into a federal consent decree with the DOJ, setting out a roadmap for reforms.

2025 May 21: DOJ filed to dismiss the federal consent decree.
