The Monroe Doctrine (1 janv. 1823 – 1 janv. 2012)
Description:
This was a U.S. foreign policy established in 1823 that warned European powers against further colonization or inference in the Western Hemisphere, while also asserting the United States non-intervention in European affairs. It declared the Americas off-limits for new European colonies and viewed any attempts to press or control cations in the hemisphere as a hostile act against the United States. Although initially lacking U.S. enforcement power, it eventually became a cornerstone of American foreign policy, evolving to justify U.S. intervention in Latin American with the Roosevelt Corollary in 1904.
