Commonwealth Invasion of the Principality of Simra (942-952) (1 janv. 942 – 1 janv. 952)

Description:

Determined to immortalise his name in history by earning glory in battle and spreading Jagnon's creed to the darkened lands of the heathens, King Karaaf Agersen declares war against the Simran Principality in the year 942. Having studied the failures of previous Cantegeszan invasions, Karaaf opts to launch a naval invasion. The Simran navy is destroyed early on, and his armies lead amphibious assaults that successfully capture many cities in the southern lowlands, including the capital of Yuzel (though at the cost of high casualties).

However the Simran nobility retreat into the northern mountains and refuse to surrender. Karaaf Agersen stubbornly holds onto the lands he has captured, fighting off constant enemy attacks that prevented him from making further progress.

Privael Bivic, a Simran border prince who collaborated with the Commonwealth invaders and fed them information earlier in the war, was rewarded for his treachery by being installed as a puppet ruler of the short-lived Prysvensian Kingdom of Simra.

In the north, the Simrans manage to secretly rebuild a capable naval fighting fleet with the assistance of the Thiarnic states. These new vessels prove crucial in defeating the Commonwealth's navy in the Battle of Ruzh Bay, weakening its stranglehold in the south.

After five years of stalemate, with the Commonwealth treasury diminishing and the debts growing larger, the State Diet in Bredenep eventually forces the King to withdraw his forces and call off the war in 952.
