Description:

Warring factions: Iran vs PJAK (Kurdistan Free Life Party)
Location: West-Azerbaijan, Kurdistan and Kermanshah Provinces in Iran, Kurdistan Region in Iraq and Ağrı Province in Turkey
Note: a continuation of the fight for Kurdish independence, but also to establish a democracy in Iran. PJAK started off as a student-led peaceful organization, but after the ‘crackdown’ on Kurdish intellectuals, PJAK was forced to flee to Iraq, where the PKK, an Iraqi Kurdish independence group, influenced PJAK from a civil rights movement to an independence movement.
