Description:

Due to Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip and its occupation of Palestinian lands, Hamas launches a surprise attack on Israel which kills 1,200 people, many of which are civilians, and takes over 200 hostages. Israel responds with a deadly counter offensive intending to eradicate Hamas in Gaza.

This initial attack by Hamas is the deadliest in Israel's history, while the ongoing conflict has been the deadliest for Palestine in the long-term Israel-Palestine conflict. Both countries, as a result, have been under investigation for violating international law, however, both deny these claims.
