Description:

In addition to the failure at the Camp David Summit to orchestrate a final agreement between Israel and Palestine, a visit by Israeli politicians to Temple Mount, a Jewish, Christian, and Islamic holy site in Jerusalem, is viewed by Palestinians as an attempt to change its status. As a result, protests and riots develop, and Israeli police respond with the use of rubber bullets, tear gas, and live ammunition.

Throughout the uprising, Israeli forces engaged in gunfights, targeted killings, tank attacks, and airstrikes, while Palestinians engaged in gunfights, stone-throwing, and rocket attacks. As a result, about 3,000 Palestinians and 1,000 Israelis are killed, and 138 suicide bombings are carried out by Palestinian militant factions targeting Israeli civilians.
