Pottawattamie Creek Massacre (3 janv. 1856 – 12 déc. 1856)

Description:

The Pottawattamie Creek Massacre was a result of the Kansas-Nebraska Act in 1854. This allowed popular sovereignty in the Kansas and Nebraska territories, which completely neglected the Missouri Compromise line set decades earlier. Due to popular sovereignty being allowed, the people of Kansas started to kill each other to have less voters for their opposing views and be able to commit voter fraud. John Brown took this to the extreme and took his sons with him into Kansas to hack people to death in an attempt to get Kansas to become a free state. Brown believed that he was chosen by God to fight for the liberation of slaves. This led to direct fighting between the Pro-slave (South) and Pro-free (North) citizens of the US, which would be the first major event regarding slavery between the North and South where blood was spilled.
