The Indian Civil Rights Act (11 avr. 1968 – 11 avr. 1968)
Description:
A highly controversial law as it authorizes federal courts to intervene in intra-tribal disputes, giving the government more/new power. Many Indians bitterly resent this development. This means the government is more powerful than tribal government and it allows the government to enforce rights that go against tradition or culture.
