Description:
It was the first empires to encompass most of the Indian subcontinent. When the founder of the empire, Chandragupta, died, his son, Ashoka, took the throne. After a long and bloody battle to capture Kalinga, Ashoka started patronizing Buddhism, repairing old stupas and making new ones, along with sending evangelical missions abroad.
