Description:
The longest battle of World War 1.Germany attacked the French town of Verdun.
Germany had to remove troops from the battle in the summer in order to move them to different offensives. This attack cost France approximately 162,000 soldiers, and reduced their role in the rest of the war due to the number of troops available.
