Yaropolk I (1 janv. 950 – 11 juin 978)
Description:
Son of Sviatoslav I. Brother to Oleg (Turov) & Vladimir the Great (Novgorod).
A year into his reign, a feud began between brothers. Oleg killed the son of Yaropolks boyar. The boyar pushed for war. Around 975 Yaropolk rode with army to Oleg. Oleg was killed, drowned in the moat, upon his retreat. Yaropolk cried for his brother's death.
Vladimir fled on this news, and Yaropolk captured Novgorod. Vlad returned with an army, and Yaropolk was tricked into being sieged by a betrayer. This traitor then urged him to negotate with Vlad. When he arrived Vlad's guards killed him.
