- liberty, limited government, and opposition to tyranny
- described two threats to political freedom
(1) general moral decay of people leads to evil rulers
(2) power is inherently evil and will try to subdue liberty
- strong influence in America compared to England
- encourages people to defend their rights

- controls America's economy & laws
- frustrations on their decisions
