King Lous XVI (1 oct. 1774 – 1 mai 1804)
Description:
Due to heavy debts and financial struggles as a result of supporting the American Revolution, King Louis XVI sought to increase taxes on the First and Second Estates who had been exempt from taxation. They protested and forced King Louis to summon the Estates General. Representatives of the Third Estate arrived ready and eager to argue for increased politicial and social reform, but all their efforts were vetoed and blocked by the other Two Estates.
