The Convention of 1818 covered three major points:Settled the northern boundary of the Louisiana Purchase along the 49th parallel
Granted the right of Americans to fish off Newfoundland and Labrador
Left the boundary west of the Rocky Mountains unsettled, with the Oregon country open to joint occupation by the British and Americans
