The Quiet Revolution (22 juin 1960 – 17 janv. 1970)
Description:
Once Jean Lesage was elected as Quebec's Premier in 1960, following Duplessis’ death, a series of major political, economic, and social reforms were introduced to revolutionize the province. Government corruption was eradicated, trade union restrictions repealed, and Quebec as a whole was modernized in preparation for the new millennium. As well, the Roman Catholic Church was given less control, as social services and education systems changed - education, specifically, was becoming centered around science and technology. In all, this was a crucial shift in Quebec's history, and allowed the province to develop an even more diversified culture compared to the rest of Canada.
