Description:
Under the terms of the Treaty of San Lorenzo in 1795, Spain also allowed Americans free navigation of the Mississippi River. America was also given the right of deposit in New Orleans. Th e right of deposit was the privilege of depositing, or storing, goods, which they would later export to Europe without having to pay duties or taxes.
