Description:

Drake remained in Queen Elizabeth’s good graces as shown in 1585 when he was appointed commander of 25 ships and ordered to harm the Spanish empire in the New World as much as possible. He captured Santiago in the Cape Verde Islands, and raided St. Augustine, Florida, Cartagena, Columbia, and San Domingo, Hispaniola (now Santa Domingo).
