Context : Greece occupied by Axis powers during World War II -> two factions: communist (EAM) and non-communist military arm ELAS-> after war: power struggle factions
Event:
Initial Skirmishes (1946): attack by communist forces on a police station in Litochoro, they aimed to overthrow the monarchy and establish a socialist state --> US gets involved and sends ressources (Truman Doctrine)
