Description:
Signed by KGB head Andropov to constantly survey West in case of sudden nuclear attack. Feared the U.S. would at any time deploy nukes on the USSR.Able Archer 83 was a practice routine in case of a nuclear war which the Soviets thought was the US actually preparing for war. Soviet official brought to the white house to relax them after agent Gordievsky told the West.
