Populist politics (1 janv. 1820 – 1 janv. 1860)

Description:

As the pro-elite Federalists were no longer a strong enough force to oppose their pro-farmer Dem-Rep opponents, property requirements for voting were nixxed in the US (though only men could vote and requirements for Black Americans were much more stringent.) This, combined with Dem-Rep rhetoric ushered in a period of faith in the US's republican government that argued that anyone [who was a White man] could go from rags to rulers, and political rhetoric began to center the interests of common people.
