Insular Cases (1 janv. 1901 – 31 déc. 1901)
Description:
The Insular Cases were a series of Supreme Court decisions in 1901 that addressed the constitutional rights of people in U.S. territories acquired from Spain after the Spanish-American War, such as Puerto Rico and the Philippines. The rulings effectively stated that full constitutional rights did not automatically extend to all areas under American control, creating a distinction between "incorporated" and "unincorporated" territories, with the latter not destined for statehood and thus not receiving full constitutional rights.
