The Era of Good Feelings is a term used to describe the period in American history from about 1815 to 1825, marked by a sense of national purpose and a desire for unity among Americans in the aftermath of the War of 1812. This era, dominated by the presidency of James Monroe, saw a temporary decline in partisan political strife and the growth of nationalistic policies, although underlying sectional tensions, particularly over slavery and economic issues, continued to simmer.
