Sparked by Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her seat to a white passenger, this boycott led by Martin Luther King Jr. and the Montgomery Improvement Association lasted over a year and resulted in the desegregation of buses in Montgomery, Alabama. (Pictured: Rosa Parks, right)
