Wilhelm Heinrich Otto Dix (1 janv. 1891 – 1 janv. 1969)
Description:
Was a German painter and printmaker, notorious for his merciless and bitterly realistic depictions of society in the aftermath of war. Dix had enthusiastically volunteered for the German army in 1914, took part in the Battle of the Somme, and then became quickly and profoundly affected and disillusioned by the sights of war. Along with George Grosz (1893-1959) he is widely considered one of the most important artists of the Neue Sachlichkeit
