1830, 1850, 1870, 1902 (1 janv. 1830 – 1 janv. 1902)
Description:
Telegraph wires carried communications over land beginning in the 1830s, but only in the 1850s did engineers devise reliable submarine cables for the transmission of messages across the ocean. By 1870, submarine cables carried messages between Britain and India in about 5 hours. By 1902, cables linked all parts of the British Empire throughout the world, and other European states maintained cables to support communications with their own colonies
