Description:
The Roman republic was a democracy of sorts. They borrowed heavily from Greece, especially Athens. It consisted of a council, a senate, tribunes, and citizen assemblies. However, only rich people could be in the senate, and only senators could be in the council. Poor people were only allowed to be tribunes, and tribunes were only able to voice their opinions and had no real power.
