The Fatimid Caliphate, an Isma'ili Shia dynasty, spanned from the 10th to 12th centuries CE across North Africa and West Asia. Founded under the leadership of missionary Abu Abdallah and Caliph Abdallah al-Mahdi Billah, it established Cairo as its capital.
