Spartacists Uprising (6 janv. 1919 – 9 janv. 1919)
Description:
Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht were German socialists of Jewish origin, Luxemburg and Liebknecht were co-founders of the Spartacus league and the Communist Party of Germany. They wanted a new revolutionary government to replace the existing one. On 6th January 1919 radical left wing workers began an uprising in Berlin, this is known as the Spartacist Uprising. Noske, the leader of the SPD, had to stop the uprising. The Freikorps, who worked for the government, caught and brutally killed all the leaders. Luxemburg, who didn't want the uprising in the first place, was interrogated, tortured, and beaten to death. The SPD's actions made a lot of people mad, even those who didn't support the uprising, and it made the KPD hate the Weimar government even more.
