Ediacaran (Ediacara Hills) (1 janv. 635000000 av. J.-C. – 1 janv. 538800000 av. J.-C.)
Description:
The Ediacaran period witnessed the emergence of multicellular life forms, preceding the Cambrian explosion. It was a time of biological experimentation, with the appearance of enigmatic soft-bodied organisms in marine environments that left behind fossilized imprints in sedimentary rocks.
Named for the Ediacara Hills. Ediacara is possibly a corruption of the Kuyani words 'Yata Takarra' meaning hard or stony ground.
