Putting-Out System/Cottage Industry (1 janv. 1600 – 1 janv. 1800)
Description:
A system in which the rural workers would first receive the raw materials to produce a good, and then they would send the final product back to the merchant. This practice eventually became compartmentalized, as different workers would build specific parts of the product. The cottage industry was a system in which urban merchants would utilize rural workers as a means of manufacturing goods.
