European imperialism in Africa (1 déc. 1883 – 1 déc. 1895)
Description:
In a famous gathering in 1884-1885 called the Berlin Conference, European nations carved up control over Africa. Some colonies fought back, while others helped European powers fight their own wars.. These were Britain, France, and Germany and the weaker powers of Spain, Portugal and Italy who had very small possessions in Africa. As late as the 1870s, Europeans controlled approximately 10% of the African continent, with all their territories located near the coasts.
