Description:
Mercantilism
- prevented colonists from selling their valuable products to any country except Britain
- colonies had to pay high taxes on imported French & Dutch goods
Britain's policies benefitted both colonies and the motherland
- Britain bought American raw materials for low prices
- Britain sold manufactured goods to the colonists
- colonial merchants also thrived despite trade restrictions
