Hanun (1 janv. 1000 av. J.-C. – 1 janv. 980 av. J.-C.)
Description:
2 Samuel 10:1-19; 1 Chronicles 19:1-
Hanun was the son of Nahash and brother to Shobi.
Hanun was suspicious of David when David brought his condolences after the death of Nahash. He captured David's emissaries, stripped them and shaved half their beards in order to humiliate them.
He later allied with the Syrian king Hadadezer, as well the king of Beth-Rehob, the king of Maacah and the king of Tob. Hoping to defeat David in battle, these men rallied at Rabbah against the Israelites, but were ultimately defeated. Hanun was later deposed as king by David and replaced with his younger brother Shobi.
