Description:

During the ending of Flashpoint, Barry Allen, the Flash tried to restore the timeline to its original form before his initial tampering. However, due to the actions of outside forces, a new timeline with a new Multiverse was created with Prime Earth/Earth-0 at its center, known as The New 52. Each character received a new, more modern origin in this timeline, with some large events such as the past Crises still having happened but never being directly shown. A variety of events occurred during this period, such as a battle between the Justice League of Prime Earth and the Crime Syndicate of Earth-3, a war between Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor, and the Convergence event, which saw old worlds destroyed in Crisis on Infinite Earths be restored in more modern forms. The end of this era occurred when Wally West, the original Kid Flash and successor to The Flash mantle after Barry Allen, was able to escape the limbo he had been trapped in since Flashpoint and reconnect with Barry Allen, who remembered his erased history with the young Flash. In the aftermath of Wally's return, it was revealed that Dr. Manhattan of the Watchmen Universe was the one responsible for stealing decades from the DC timeline, and has been the overarching puppet master behind the events of Flashpoint, The New 52, and now Rebirth. Dr. Manhattan's changes to the timeline were also the reason as to why many previously important heroes were absent throughout The New 52, such as the Justice Society of America and the Legion of Superheroes, who were all trapped in the same temporal limbo that imprisoned Wally West.
