Alexanderia of Selga (1 janv. 329 av. J.-C. – 1 juill. 309 av. J.-C.)

Description:

After the Persian empire fell to Alexander, the queen of Selga rebelled against her Persian rulers and allowed Alexander's army into the city. It is said that Alexander was enamored with a Selaiki princess whom he married, a strategic move to quell local uprisings and strengthen the relationship between Greece and Selga. Greeks settled in Selga and established their own sub-district, bringing Greek culture to the Seliki people. As a tribute, Alexander designated Selga as the capital of one of his newest Satrappe, Alexandria on the Caucuses.
