Adad-nirari III (25 mars 811 av. J.-C. – 8 févr. 783 av. J.-C.)
Description:
Jonah 3:6; 2 Kings 13:5
Adad-Nirari is likely the "king of Nineveh" to whom Jonah prophecies judgement. Adad-Nirari, after hearing Jonah's words, issues a decree ordering the Ninevites to repent of their evil ways and turn to God. Their repentance, though effective in turning God's wrath, does not last long.
Adad-Nirari was also likely the "savior" who saved Israel from the oppression of the Arameans (see 2 Kings 13:5).
