Description:
Stateira was the daughter of Darius III, the last king of the Achaemenid Empire. She was married to Alexander in 324 BC, as part of a political marriage to unite the Macedonian and Persian empires. Stateira was said to be very beautiful, and Alexander was reportedly fond of her. She was murdered in 323 BC, along with her sister, Drypetis, and their mother, Sisygambis, by Alexander's mother, Olympias.
