Cold War (25 mars 1947 – 26 déc. 1991)

Description:

Refers to the tension between the US and the Soviet Union where neither engages in direct conflict w/ the other.

Causes:
1. The US didn't want communism to spread. The USSR didn't want democracy to spread. Both were expansionist in nature.
2. Stalin broke his promise to give Eastern Europe self-determination; Iron Curtain.
3. Berlin disputes; the USSR didn't want Ally interference in Berlin.
