White mob attacks 600 federal marshals in Montgomery (20 mai 1961 – 21 mai 1961)
Description:
In response to the violence of one Freedom Ride, Attorney General Kennedy had sent 600 federal marshals to the city in hopes to stop the violence between May 20 and 21st, 1961. The following night, Martin Luther King Jr. led a service at a church in Montgomery, where a riot occurred outside. Kennedy summoned the marshals to provide protection, but instead had to fight for themselves.
