-Puerto Ricans found ways to develop a sense of community among themselves and provide for their own social needs despite experiences with prejudice and discrimination.-Created traditional household clubs and societies
-Sponsored social events; boxing matches, domino tournaments, beauty pageants, dances, and family activities
-Were trying to get to show the world that they are "White"
