Enlightenment (favoring logic) thought from Euro influenced English colonies. Ideas of Natural Rights and the Social Contract theory (idea that the people and the gov were in a "social contract" where the people gave the gov power and in exchange the gov protected the people. If the gov didn't protect the people, they had the right to overthrow it). Colonists were beginning to be concerned about monarchies and their lack or representation in Congress
