Battle of Hue (31 janv. 1968 – 3 mars 1968)

Description:

The Battle of Hue was the bloodiest battle of the Vietnam War. It was a part of the Tet Offensive and began when Northern Vietnamese forces and the Viet Cong launched an attack on the city of Hue in order to "liberate" it. The battle lasted around a month as American forces fought to recapture the Citadel. Even though American forces won the battle, North Vietnam won the war due to the loss of American support for the war after the atrocities of the Tet Offensive. This is important as it marks a turning point in the war where even though America is still winning battles, they are losing the war due to the public.
