Loving v Virginia (29 nov 1963 – 3 mars 1967)
Description:
this case was brought to the supreme court by Richard and Mildred Loving. Richard is a white man that married Mildred a black women. the state of Virginia called their marriage illegal based on state laws regarding interracial marriage. the lovings had help from the ACLU, American civil liberty union. the lovings case appealed to the Supreme Court, and the court ruled in their favor. deeming the Virginia laws against interracial marriage were unconstitutional under the 14th amendment. the Lovings vs Virginia broke down walls against interracial marriage all over the united states.
