The Marshal Plan (15 avr. 1948 – 15 déc. 1951)
Description:
After world war two many of the European countries economies were in shambles. The Americans under Truman seized this opportunity. By sending money to the ravaged countries Truman hoped to gain allies and favors which he could use against the Soviets. This posturing only increased the tension between the Soviets and Americans. Many Soviets were wary of American influence so close to their borders. It put many of their senior officials on a pre-war mindset, making diplomatic solutions impossible.
