English mathematician who worked with G.H. Hardy on the study of the Riemann hypothesis and the theory of prime numbers. Littlewood made important contributions to the study of the distribution of prime numbers, and he is known for his work on the Hardy-Littlewood conjecture. One of his most famous formulas is Littlewood's law, which states that the distribution of prime numbers is asymptotically random.
