Freedom Rides (4 mai 1961 – 10 déc. 1961)
Description:
Following the Greensboro sit ins, an interracial group of activists, led by CORE director James Farmer, decided to challenge the Jim Crow Laws by assembling "freedom rides" throughout the South. The rides were model after CORE's "journey of reconciliation" in 1946. On the "journey of reconciliation", an interracial group rode on interstate buses to test the enforcement of the decision of Morgan v. Commonwealth of Virginia, which outlawed segregation in any interstate transit.
