The life span of Jan Hus, who led a revolt that combined religious and nationalistic elements; argued that it was the authority of the Bible and not the institutional church tat ultimately mattered; horrified by immoral behavior of the clergy; argued that the congregation should be given the cup during mass as well as the wafer, something only clergymen were allowed; condemned as a heretic and burned at the stake
