The Reformatory Era (1 janv. 1876 – 1 janv. 1890)

Description:

This was a late nineteenth-century correctional model based on the use of the intermediate sentence and a belief in the possibility of rehabilitation, especially for youthful offenders. The reformatory concept faded with the emergence of industrial prisons around the start of the twentieth century.
